What a great first weekend for the Port Washington Sandstorm! The girls had a lot of fun and learned valuable lessons all weekend. There were some great moments, including 2 shutout victories (1 against the Champs - Merrick, and another in a revenge game - Plainedge), and a third place medal finish that made the weekend a tremendous success. Trainer, Gerneil "Jigsy" Lorne, brought the team together and taught them how to play through adversity. Despite playing teams who have been together for over a year, the Sandstorm who were playing with only 10 players, and as a team that has been together for less than a full week, made every other team take notice. The girls could not have been any more enthusiastic about accepting their third place medals than if they had won. The Sandstorm put the other tournament teams on notice, and have every intention of working hard to come back and try to win the cup next year.
